JIMMY HORTON GOING FOR FIRST WIN IN BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SEPT. 19

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 15, 2009 . . . Jimmy Horton, a dirt track racing legend, has won at least one Modified stock car feature race each year for 36 consecutive seasons starting in 1974. The Neshanic Station, NJ full-time professional racer has won more than 400 Modified stock car races. He has 28 track and series championships on his resume. However the veteran racer, now in his 37th season of stock car racing competition, including flings in ARCA and NASCAR Cup competition, has never won a BPG Racing Freedom 76 Classic.
This Saturday, September 19th, Horton will bring the Dick Biever Racing/Alpha Mills No. 14 Modified to Grandview Speedway looking for that elusive win in the $20,000 to win BPG Racing Freedom 76 Classic for Modified stock cars. The green flag drops on the racing action at 7 p.m.
Horton has won two Big Block Modified races and three Sprint Car races at Grandview.
The 53-year-old racer will have plenty of competition as he goes up against multi time track champions Jeff Strunk and Craig VonDohren who have won several BPG Racing Freedom 76 events in the past. Also in the field will be other past winners including Meme DeSantis, Ray Swinehart, Tom Mayberry, Kenny Brightbill and a host of other top talents.
Ryan Godown, winner of the Forrest Rogers Memorial and Big Diamond’s Coalcracker 100, will be looking to take home the big bucks for the third time this season.
New York State Modified racing standout Stewart Friesen will be returning to racing at Grandview Speedway to drive for noted car owner Norm Hansell in the Freedom 76. Friesen, who drove for Hansell during part of the 2008 racing season, will be replacing Danny Johnson who has had to bow out of the big race due to a scheduling conflict.
Fans are invited to come out for early afternoon activities that include the LineX of Lehigh Valley Freedom Fest that runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Included will be a dunk tank, tire changing competition, autograph and photo sessions, race car display and a chance for children to decorate the Troy Wink race car. All proceeds will go to Camelot House in Allentown, PA.
Adult admission for the Freedom 76 is $25. Youngsters 6 thru 11 pay $10 and under 6 are admitted FREE. Pit passes are $40.
Advance and season ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. while ticket windows open at 3:30 p.m. Pit gates open at 10 a.m. The rain date is Saturday, October 3.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, 10 miles north of Pottstown, PA. Race information is available at 610.754.7688 or visit www.Grandviewspeedway.com.
