Thunder On The Hill Racing Series
Tuesday, July 07, 2009
PREMIER TRIPLE DIVISION PROGRAM OFFERS $20 ADMISSION. .

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented by Lee Myles Transmissions & Auto Care the race fans will be the big winners with a fantastic triple division racing program offered at the standard admission price

This is a bargain since in most cases, when any two of these three divisions are on the same card, the general admission would be $20.   On Wednesday night, July 15, the 358 Modifieds, URC Sprints and the ARDC Wingless Midgets will all come together for the Triple Crown Thunder Thriller and the general admission will be just $20 for adults, $5 for Children 6-11 and kids under the age of six will be admitted for free.

Thunder Series organizers Bob Miller and Grandview Speedway owner Bruce Rogers have put together this blockbuster event that will showcase the three premier divisions of local dirt track racing.

Checkered Flag Fan Club will be part of this show, honoring the three division feature winners. The Nation's oldest traveling sprint car organization, the Rislone URC Sprint Series will be on the program competing in a series of qualifying events leading up to a twenty-five lap feature. The always popular 358 Modifieds will battle in round three of the Modified Thunder Series will qualifying events and a 25 lap feature contest

An added extra attraction will be a the ARDC Wingless Midgets with twenty-four cars starting their 25 lap feature event

As many as ninety race cars are expected to the fill the pits as they chase a total purse expected to reach $30,000

The Triple Crown Thunder Thriller is expected to be an annual event offering an exciting mix of modifieds, sprints and wingless midget racing in an efficiently run program that will get underway promptly at 7:30 PM

One of the hottest drivers in sprint car racing JJ Grasso , known at the "Jersey Jet" will be looking for his first sprint car win on the hill. Grasso is an exciting driver to watch at any race track, but he'll be even more exciting on the high banks on the hill

Grandview Speedway is not an easy track to win at, just ask six time URC Champion Curt Michael. Michael has won at almost every track on the URC circuit, everyone except Grandview.  Michael, of Ocean View, DE and driver of the Valley Forge Inc sprint car will be looking to change that statement all around. Houston, DE hot shoe Becca Anderson will be looking for her first thunder win along with Davey Sammons, who looked very strong at Grandview in a URC show earlier this year. URC Title contender Chris Coyle of Wilmington, DE and Trenton, NJ ace Mark Bitner have visited the Grandview win circle so count on them to be in the hunt.  Local talent Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA was also a previous winner on the hill. In the 358 Modified ranks, the Thunder Series has been a thriller Meme Desantis and Duane Howard were the previous Thunder winners in 2009 and both drivers are in a highly contested battle for the series title. Doug Manmiller, Mike Gular, Rick Laubach, Craig VonDohren, Ryan Godown and Jeff Strunk are looking for the win in the 25 lap Modified feature. The third piece of the Triple Crown Thunder Thriller is the always exciting ARDC Wingless Midgets. On this night, the midgets will compete in a features only event that will showcase their twenty-four best drivers. Steve Buckwalter, Frank Polimeda, Brett Arndt, Eric Heydenreich, Drew Heistand, Tracy Readinger, Nick Wean,  Zack Martini,  Stephanie Stevens are just some of the drivers expected to take part in the twenty-five lap ARDC Wingless Midget feature. Never before have these three divisions been showcased on their own program. This is a race fans delight as they'll see modifieds, sprint cars and wingless midgets all on the same night and, at an affordable family admission price.

The Thunder on the Hill Racing Program will also honor many Living Legends of our sport on Wednesday, July 15.   If you know of a former winning driver or owner who competed with URC, ARDC or drove a modified or late model at Grandview Speedway (currently not active) ask them to reach series organizer Bob Miller by calling 443-513-4456 to receive the special invite.
